Founded in 2018, Brave Little Fighters Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving children (ages 4-18) with serious and terminal illnesses. Brave Outings offer joyful and carefree opportunities for the children and their families year round to ease uncertainty along their medical journey. All outings are completely free of charge. The Foundation and its outings provide "a unique kind of healing" and a unique opportunity for the families to connect with other families and the children with other children. The core values which guide us are: compassion, safety, camaraderie and possibility.
The mission is to ease the heartache, challenges and uncertainty faced by children with serious and terminal illness and their families through joyful and carefree outings, all completely free of charge. The children are bravely coping with cancer, cystic fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes, cerebral palsy, congenital heart disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other serious illnesses. The Foundation has experienced tremendous growth in recent weeks and now serves 200 families residing in the WNY region.
Ranging from art, yoga, meditation and cooking classes to Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Bisons games and trips to the pumpkin farm and Darien Lake Theme Park, our outings include whole families. Brave Outings are implemented to create a sense of community and lasting memories for the children, siblings and parents and, of equal importance, to offer inspiration. The majority are made possible through the generosity of talented individuals who donate their time and special gifts and community partners from the Buffalo Bills, Bandits and Sabres to Wegmans, the Blue Eyed Baker, Paula's Donuts, the Rochester Amerks, Tops, Darien Lake, M&T Bank, Andrews Barber Parlor, MUSEjar, Key Bank Center, the Albright-Knox and New Era Cap Co. Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are among the musicians who have donated their resources and gifts for our children and their families to enjoy. We are incredibly grateful to all of these partners.
Testimonials: In the words of one mother, Rhonda: "many of our best times have been because of the unique and carefree opportunities the outings offer our son and our whole family!"
As another mother, Iris, shares, "I hadn't seen my daughter smile in so long until this event day! We cherish the friendships she has made and the opportunities you have given her."
